INGREDIENTS:
5 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut up into small chunks
6 ounces bittersweet chocolate, chopped
3/4 cup sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon ground espresso
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup all-purpose flour
DIRECTIONS:
- Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
- Line an 8 inch square baking pan with foil, butter the foil, and place the pan on a baking sheet
- In a bowl placed over a pan of simmering water, melt the butter and chocolate, then remove the bowl from the pan
- Whisk the sugar into the chocolate mixture
- Whisk in the eggs, one at a time
- Incorporate the vanilla, then the espresso, salt, and flour
- Scrape the batter into your prepared baking pan and bake for 30 minutes- a knife inserted should come out clean
- Cool brownies in the pan, on a rack, completely before attempting to remove
- Cut into 16 pieces and serve
